As part of the priority period of Laos' ASEAN Chairmanship Year 2024, from August 20-21, the Lao Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in coordinattion with the Korean government and associations to organize the 12th Mekong-ROK Business Forum in Vientiane. The forum focused on enhancing connectivity of small and medium-sized enterprises, enhancing trade opportunities and expanding markets in the Mekong region.
Organized under the theme "Building the capacity of Small and Medium Enterprises to enhance connectivity in the Mekong region", the forum brought together representatives from the public and private sectors of Mekong countries—Cambodia, Laos , Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam—along with partners from Korea. The Vietnamese delegation participating in the forum included representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Planning and Investment, VCCI and representatives of enterprises such as: TH Truemilk, May 10 Company and Saigontel.
The forum serves as a platform for the public and private sectors from the Mekong River countries and Korea to cooperate, exchange knowledge and information to solve various problems. The forum enhances the standard capacity of small and medium enterprises (SMEs), facilitates business enterprises to expand into new markets, provides a strong trade network and establishes between enterprises in the Mekong River countries and Korea.
With the forum, the Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized a visit to the Thanaleng Dry Port Project and Vientiane Logistics Zone, the Project to implement the policy of transforming Laos from a landlocked country (Land Lock) to a regionally connected country (Land Link), becoming a connective and cooperative hub for the sub-region and the world.
