Climate change is the foremost concerned global issue that connects business operation with policy making. During COP26 and COP28, the Vietnamese Government put forth the commitment to reach Net-Zero in 2050. With the resolve to value the commitment, Việt Nam has laid out an action plan for industries such as energy, transportation, agriculture and manufacturing, hence to be able to propagate forward green financing and renewable energy, requires the astute cooperation between the central and provincial bodies through vigorous policy making and green investment.
To follow the commitment towards Net-zero in 2050 of the Vietnamese State Government, on the 31st of May, 2024, Lào Cai province, along with the Socialist Republic of Vietnam embassy in the Republic of Korea, the US-ASEAN Business Council(US-ABC) co-host the online conference “Opportunities and Potential for sustainable Mineral Development in Lào Cai province”; with the participation of more than 50 representative from international organizations and enterprises from the United States, Israel & South Korea. Saigon Telecommunication and Technologies Corporation, Energy Capital Vietnam Llc., are honored to accompany Lào Cai province and our associates to host this groundbreaking event.
Opening the conference, Mr. Trịnh Xuân Trường, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee, gave an opening keynote welcoming all the international partners and kickstarted the program. Representative from the United State – ASEAN Business Council(US-ABC)- Mr. Vũ Tú Thành has given his thoughts on the bilateral relationship between the two countries in general and US-ABC in particular during the recent period and the forthcoming direction of collaboration. Subsequently, Mr. Phạm Khắc Tuyên, the commercial counselor, represents the Socialist Republic of Vietnamese(SRV) embassy in the Republic of Korea (ROK) has given his remarks to all stakeholders participating in today’s conference, hoping for international companies with Lào Cai province specifically and Vietnam in general will have the opportunity to propel and promote strong investment initiatives in 2024.
To initiate the discussion, the representative from Lào Cai People’s Committee gave his understanding over the opportunities and potential for commercial investment within the province, moreover the strength and advantages of the province and the long term plan of promoting green economy. Given the rare opportunity to directly confer with the leadership of Lào Cai province, representative from US-ABC, Mr. David Lewis – Chairman and president of ECV, along with his associates, International experts Ms. Mary Cronin, VP of Government Relations at 6K Corporation, Dr. Isabel Cane – renowned scholar from the Sustainable Mineral Institute – Queensland University, Mr. Sergio A. Tuberia – Founder of Equipcast have together covered innovate solutions regarding policies, technologies and output contractual work from the United States, along with supporting policies between Vietnam and the United States. On behalf of Saigontel, Mr. Nguyễn Huy Đức has given his share of insights through the seminar on the closed loop industrial manufacturing supply chain in Vietnam, a topic that has recently gathered significant attention from Lào Cai’s People’s Committee, as well as international partners.
The participants of the conference have additional time to discuss and exchange more on the topics covered during the live conference that morning. Concluding the event, the Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee – Mr. Trịnh Xuân Trường, has expressed his gratitude towards Saigontel and all the affiliated stakeholders for accompanying Lào Cai province in the live conference and is committed to support and welcome the opportunities, considering the success of the enterprises to be proportionate with the future prosperity of the province, creating a seamless pipeline to help turn the investment ideas and the development objectives of the province into reality.
