On March 9^th, 2021, the Ba Ria - Vung Tau People's Committee organized a meeting with the title "Ba Ria Vung Tau – connection of inter-regional traffic, foundation creation for smart city development" under Mr. Nguyen Van Tho - Chairman of Ba Ria - Vung Tau People's Committee and leaders of local departments.

The Korean delegation was led by Mr. Cho Han Deog - Director of KOICA in Vietnam Office with the participation of representatives of Korean investors such as SMBL, Hanwa Aero Engine and Saigon Telecommunication & Technologies (SAIGONTEL) – the unit connected and promoted investment in the Korean market for the province.

Previously, in February 2021, the KOICA expert team had a survey trip and worked with the Department of Ba Ria Vung Tau Natural Resources and Environment and sponsored 02 automatic seawater monitoring stations in coastal area of the province.

At this working program, the Director of KOICA and the delegation of Korean investors visited and worked with the Chairman of Ba Ria- Vung Tau People's Committee - Mr. Nguyen Van Tho on the strategy of building a smart city for the province. Within the framework of the working program, local leaders organized a program to send a field survey team at the expected location to implement a number of regional projects to create a premise for smart city development. At the meeting between local leaders and the delegation, the two parties discussed many factors to bring Ba Ria Vung Tau to sustainable development and become a smart city.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Van Tho - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee affirmed that, Ba Ria Vung Tau province always pays attention, creates a safe investment environment and provides many services in order to attract investment and develop sustainably and at the same time, strengthen cooperation programs and long-term connections with investors to attract further development.

As a modern and fast-growing locality in the southern key economic region, Ba Ria Vung Tau has very well exploited its potentials and advantages, effectively mobilize resources for locality development and bring positively effects for the whole region and the whole country over the past time.

Through the meeting, the Chairman of Ba Ria - Vung Tau People's Committee highly appreciated KOICA's contribution in the smart development of the province in the past time and expressed his wish to develop the cooperation program with the delegation to help the province quickly complete the "smart city" model, keeping up with global development in the future.
