VIETNAM BUDDHIST SANGHA ESTIMATES TO INVEST 1000 BILLION VND TO RESTORE THE LY NAM DE RELIC.

In the afternoon of April 4th, the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, SAIGONTEL and representative of Thai Nguyen Province People's Committee had a meeting with the Town Committee and People's Committee of Pho Yen town on the construction of a project to restore and embellish Ly Nam De Relic, Tien Phong commune, Pho Yen town.

There was the attendance of Venerable Thich Thanh Phong - Standing member of the Central Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha - Head of the Economic - Finance Department – Head of Vinh Nghiem Pagoda (Ho Chi Minh City), Ms. Nguyen Cam Phuong - Deputy Head of Economic Department of Vietnam Buddhist Sangha - General Director of SAIGONTEL, Mr. Trinh Viet Hung - Alternate member of Party Central Committee - Provincial Party Deputy Secretary - Chairman of Thai Nguyen People's Committee, and leaders of Pho Uyen town, Thai Nguyen province.

At the meeting, Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s Representative - Venerable Thich Thanh Phong highly appreciated investment and embellishment the policy of Ly Nam De relic of Thai Nguyen province. The Venerable said that this is a historical relic with special significance not only of Thai Nguyen but also of the country. The embellishment of historical sites is necessary to preserve resources and educate future generations about the merits of previous generations who built the country.

The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha affirms that it will accompany the province and support architecture and fine arts to build a relic site with typical cultural values ​​of Vietnam; at the same time, call for socialization resources to build works in the relic. Accordingly, the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha will fully invest in the Ly Nam De relic site (including temples, Huong Ap Pagoda, Man Tang Pagoda) with a total investment of up to 1000 billion VND.

SAIGONTEL and the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, leaders of Thai Nguyen People's Committee said that they will restore and embellish the Ly Nam De relic site in the near future.

Affirming the humanistic and historical value of Ly Nam De relic site, Mr. Trinh Viet Hung - Provincial Party Deputy Secretary, Chairman of Thai Nguyen People's Committee emphasized the importance of building the relic site to become national key spiritual spot of Thai Nguyen province and at the same time connecting with important tourist attractions of the province and the northern provinces; promoting cultural and spiritual values ​​among the people.

Mr. Trinh Viet Hung requested Pho Yen town to soon make a plan and coordinate with departments and agencies to speed up the work progress, carefully assess the current situation, build the project to ensure feasibility and comply with regulations; as well as issue a plan on site clearance as soon as possible; promoting propaganda and mobilizing people to create consensus in society. Accordingly, Thai Nguyen province will carry out site clearance and infrastructure investment with a total value of 300 billion VND. The province will hand over SAIGONTEL to coordinate with the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha for implementation.

It is known that Ly Nam De relic site (including Muc temple, Huong Ap pagoda, Man Tang pagoda) is a place to store many historical values ​​about King Ly Nam De. In 2014, Muc temple and Huong Ap pagoda located in the relic area were ranked national monuments by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. In 2016, Man Tang Pagoda was also ranked as a provincial historical relic by Thai Nguyen People's Committee. In order to embellish, preserve and promote the historical value of the relic site, Thai Nguyen People's Committee has approved the Decision No. 1228/QD-UBND dated May 9, 2019 on the planning of Ly Nam De relic site with an area of ​​over 54ha, to be implemented in the period from now to 2030.
