To continue attracting foreign direct investment, especially in realizing cooperation with Korean partners after both countries have elevated their relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership, Saigontel, along with a delegation from Long An province, led by Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Ut, visited, worked, and promoted investment in Korea from April 22nd to 26th, 2024.
During this trade promotion trip, the delegation focused on promoting potential, developmental orientations, and the best investment opportunities for Korean enterprises in various fields: high technology, innovation, renewable energy, green growth, and particularly the green industrial park infrastructure in Tan Tap - Nam Tan Tap, Can Giuoc district, Long An province, where Saigontel serves as the infrastructure investment unit.
On the first day in Korea, the delegation from Long An province visited the office of Former President Lee Myung Bak in the capital Seoul. During the meeting, Former President Lee Myung Bak once again highly appreciated the green growth strategy and developmental orientation of the green industrial park in Long An province and Saigontel. At the same time, he expressed the desire to support and promote cooperation among Korean enterprises, investors to come to explore, research, and invest in Long An province in the field of green growth and green industrial park infrastructure.
On the same day, the delegation also visited and held discussions with the Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Republic of Korea. Speaking at the meeting, Ambassador Vu Ho highly praised Long An's efforts in attracting foreign investment, especially from Korea, in recent times. In the future, the Vietnamese Embassy in Korea is always ready to support in promoting potential, connecting with Korean investors, and fostering bilateral cooperation.
According to the schedule, the delegation visited and held discussions with the Governor of Jeju Province regarding the potential for economic, cultural, and social development cooperation between the two regions. Additionally, they aimed to promote collaboration between businesses from both areas. The Governor of Jeju Province expressed the desire for both sides to continue accompanying and supporting each other in the future, especially with the APEC 2025 event being held in Jeju.
During the working session with the Jeju Free International City Development Center (JDC), with the witness and support of the authorities of Long An province and Jeju, JDC - Saigontel, along with the connecting investment unit between the two countries, Zenith, exchanged and reached an agreement on cooperation to develop high-tech zones in Dong Nai and Long An. At the same time, JDC supported research into opportunities for developing duty-free business at Long Thanh Airport. JDC, a department under the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport, plays a significant role in promoting the development of the Jeju Free International City in areas such as high technology, education, healthcare, museums, and duty-free business. Additionally, it actively contributes to community projects such as healthcare workforce training, support for agricultural and fisheries equipment, and assistance programs for the poor and disabled in Jeju.
As part of the working itinerary, JDC also took the delegation to visit the Jeju Special Economic Zone (the most successful economic zone in Korea), the Jeju Science and Technology Park (a project covering 110 hectares that has been fully developed and is undergoing expansion in its second phase. This project serves as a foundation for the development of Korea's high-tech industry and plays a crucial role in promoting innovation and developing high-quality human resources for the region), the Route 330 Innovation Center (a hub for attracting young talent, innovative ideas, and startup incubation in Jeju province), and several internationally recognized high-quality workforce training facilities in the region.
During the trip, all parties had the opportunity for open discussions regarding the potential, advantages, and investment cooperation opportunities, laying the groundwork for the development of projects in Vietnam and Jeju. Particularly in this trip, Saigontel had the honor of being entrusted by Long An and Dong Nai provinces to coordinate with the Vietnamese Embassy in Korea to organize an investment promotion conference on infrastructure investment opportunities in Long An - Dong Nai in Seoul. The event, scheduled for the morning of April 26th, was expected to attract over 100 Korean enterprises. Additionally, the program was supported by KIND (the Korea Overseas Infrastructure & Urban Development Corporation), SBSBiz (a major private commercial information portal under SBS, one of the largest TV networks in South Korea), professional construction support associations, and foreign construction associations.
